Woman's Hour Power List 2016

This year’s Power List will celebrate seven women who’ve made the biggest impact on women’s lives over the past seven decades.

To recognise women’s achievements across the history of the programme, for the first time women no longer living will be considered for a place on the list. Those outside the UK will also be considered if their impact here can be demonstrated.

Emma Barnett, chair of the Woman's Hour Power List 2016 judges says:

"I am particularly excited that for the first time we can honour great women who are no longer with us. In previous years we’ve solely focused on women presently impacting our lives. By opening up the annals of history – we can also pay tribute to the great women to whom we owe so much and have a duty to remember – which is extremely fitting in Woman’s Hour’s 70th year."

Judges will consider a woman’s body of work or her role as a catalyst for change. The Power List is also expected to include the names of women changing women’s lives today.

The Woman's Hour Power List 2016 will be revealed on Wednesday 14 December.

To be part of the judging tasked with whittling down a list like this with so, so many great women to choose from is a great honour. This is a challenge as daunting as it is exciting.
