Going to the Proms – FAQs

What are the entry requirements at the Royal Albert Hall?

You can enter Door 12, the Café Bar, and Italian restaurant Verdi without a ticket to a show. To enter the rest of the building you will need to have your ticket ready to be scanned.

There are no longer any Covid status entry requirements at the Hall.

Do I need to book tickets in advance?

To avoid disappointment we recommend booking in advance. Tickets for the 2024 Proms season go on sale Saturday 18 May. You can see the programme of events and book tickets here.

Even for sold-out concerts at the Royal Albert Hall, £8.00 Promming tickets are available on the day. These tickets are not bookable in advance. Find out more about Promming here.

Throughout the season keep checking the Royal Albert Hall website as returns often become available. Unfortunately, we can’t run a waiting list but follow @bbcproms and @royalalberthall on Twitter and Facebook for the latest updates.

Day Promming

Day Promming tickets will be available on the day of each concert. There will be standing tickets available in the Arena and Gallery with additional seated Promming tickets in the Choir or Circle. These seats will replace the seat reservation cards in previous years.

All Prommers can book two tickets per concert. We will continue to use e-tickets to facilitate contactless entry to the building. Please print your tickets or show them on a mobile phone. All standing Promming tickets will be unreserved.

How can I get tickets for the Last Night of the Proms?

Owing to high demand, the majority of seated tickets for the Last Night of the Proms are allocated by ballot. Please see our Last Night of the Proms 2024 page for more details.

Can I take a flag to the Proms?

Flags are permitted at the Proms and are traditionally part of the Last Night celebrations provided they do not interfere with the smooth running of the concert. The maximum flag size is 0.5m x 1m, and no flag poles. If you are draping the front of your box, the flag must not drop lower than the box below.

Can I bring children to the Proms?

All children are welcome to the CBeebies Wildlife Jamboree Proms on 27 July, the Relaxed Prom on 5 August, and the CBeebies: Ocean Adventure Proms at Bristol Beacon on 26 August. Out of consideration for audience and artists, we recommend that children attending other Proms are aged at least 5 and over.

A buggy park and a nursing parent's room will be available at the Royal Albert Hall during the CBeebies Proms and the Relaxed Prom. You can read more about the facilities and provisions on offer during the CBeebies Proms and Relaxed Prom .

Children between 7 and 18 are positively encouraged and tickets are half-price in any seating area of the Royal Albert Hall (except the Last Night). Please note this is not applicable to Promming tickets.

Is there a dress code at the Proms?

Come as you are: there is no dress code at the Proms.

Can I bring bags to the Royal Albert Hall?

In order to provide a safe and comfortable environment for all visitors the Royal Albert Hall has a one bag policy. Bags should be no more than 25L in capacity (approx. 40cm x 30cm x 20cm). Acceptable bags include regular sized handbags, satchels, briefcases and small rucksacks. Any additional bags or bags larger than allowed, must be checked into the cloakroom at £1 per item. They can be purchased from the Hall from – see for details.

What if I can no longer attend?

*Standard geographic charges from landlines and mobiles will apply. All calls may be recorded and monitored for training and quality-control purposes.
