Following last year's first ever ±«Óãtv Radio 1Xtra Soundclash, the station has announced that the event is back for a second year, this time coming live from the Troxy, London on Saturday 18 June 2011.

The ±«Óãtv Radio 1Xtra Summer Soundclash will bring DJs from 1Xtra, ±«Óãtv Radio 1 and special guests together into the ultimate musical battle to be crowned Soundclash Champion.

Tickets to the event, which is to be hosted by 1Xtra's MistaJam and Twin B, are free. Ticket registration opened during Twin B's show this morning, (31 May, 9am) and closes in MistaJam's show on Tuesday 7 June (9pm). For further details visit bbc.co.uk/1xtra.

The Soundclash concept stems from a musical competition where participants put their DJ skills to the test in front of a live audience.

The main Soundclash (9-11pm) sees 1Xtra team captains, DJ Target, Ace and Vis and Charlie Sloth give their team members, Radio 1 DJs Reggie Yates, Nihal and Vernon Kay, and 1Xtra specialist DJs CJ Beatz¸ DJ Cameo and DJ Bailey three minutes each to showcase their talent. Each team will also have some very special guest performances to help them.

Audience response will determine who triumphs in each round with Radio 1 and 1Xtra listeners deciding who gets eliminated.

Additionally Chipmunk will be performing at half-time with Ms Dynamite and Maverick Sabre among the host of PAs lined up to perform at MistaJam's Soundclash Afterparty (11pm-1am).

To start the evening there will be an Angry Birdz warm-up soundclash (7-9pm), hosted by Trevor Nelson, with 1Xtra DJs Sarah Jane Crawford and Gemma Cairney going head to head in a talent battle.
