±«Óãtv Headroom heads off on a high

±«Óãtv Headroom celebrates the end of its successful campaign with a clutch of awards. The ±«Óãtv's mental health and wellbeing campaign took two awards at the Mind Mental Health Media Awards last night and was crowned at the Ability Media International Awards at the weekend..

Executive producer Nina Bell said: "We are completely delighted to end on such a high. It's a testament to the amazing work the team have done in creating a campaign that spans online, tv and radio with grassroots initiatives involving schools, prisons, libraries and large scale public events.

"Headroom was all about encouraging people to take better care of their mental health and wellbeing and for that to be recognised by the mental health community is deeply heartening."

At the Mind Mental Health Media Awards, ±«Óãtv Headroom won both the New Media Award and was also recognised with a special Making a Difference Award for helping to change public attitudes to mental health.

During the event, the wider ±«Óãtv also took honours, winning Best Documentary for Sectioned (commissioned as part of ±«Óãtv Headroom); Best News and Current Affairs went to ±«Óãtv World Service for its Global Mental Health Series; EastEnders won Best Soap for Stacey Branning's bipolar disorder storyline; and Best Speech Radio went to ±«Óãtv Radio 4's Anatomy Of A Mental Illness.

On Sunday, ±«Óãtv Headroom also won the new Ability Media International award for Best Campaign.

The ±«Óãtv Headroom campaign draws to close this week but its core web content, fact sheets and information guides will still be accessible through the main , so people can continue to log on and access Ruby Wax's agony aunt advice in Ruby's Room as well as finding a wealth of information on mental health issues ranging from agoraphobia to the basics of wellbeing.

Nina Bell concluded: "It's been an amazing and thought-provoking campaign. It's wonderful to know that we have touched the lives of many, many people and I hope that individuals will continue to find help, support and advice at Headroom's new home on the."
