The Ashes on Test Match Special

The oldest and most keenly fought rivalry in cricket – the Ashes, resumes this winter and you can catch every ball on Test Match Special.

±«Óãtv Radio 5 Live Sports Extra, ±«Óãtv Radio 4 Long Wave and bbc.co.uk/sport (for UK users) will host ball-by-ball commentary starting in Brisbane on November 25 with coverage of all five Tests running through to January 7 2011. After the Ashes you can also hear commentary of England's International Twenty20 and One Day International matches in a hugely busy winter tour.

Ashes holders England will travel to Australia with confidence after a strong summer where they won all five of the series they played defeating Bangladesh, Pakistan and Australia. England are hoping to return home from down under with the Ashes for the first time since 1986/87.

The Test Match Special commentary team will include regulars Jonathan Agnew and Geoffrey Boycott who will also present the daily Close Of Play podcast (downloadable from the 5 Live website after the close of play).

England's 2005 Ashes-winning captain Michael Vaughan will be part of the commentary team alongside Christopher Martin Jenkins, Simon Mann, Jim Maxwell and Vic Marks with contributions from "the analyst" Simon Hughes.

Former Australian opener Michael Slater joins the TMS team for the first time for the tests in Brisbane, Perth and Sydney with ex-Aussie captain Ian Chappell completing the team in Adelaide and Melbourne.

For those who cannot stay up to catch all the action live you'll be able to hear all the highlights plus a comprehensive review on Radio 5 Live Sports Extra shortly after each day's play.

Radio 5 Live's coverage will be led by Mark Pougatch who will provide up-to-the-minute updates as well as all the latest Ashes news and reaction throughout 5 Live Breakfast. Mark will be joined by the likes of former England captains Alec Stewart and Mark Butcher for expert analysis plus build-up during the Tony Livesey and Stephen Nolan programmes.

To whet your appetite before the start of the Series, 5 Live Sport will look at Great Ashes Characters on Thursday 28 October and a special Ashes send-off programme will wish the team good luck with very special guests on 5 Live Sport during the programme on Tuesday 16 November.

Phil Tufnell will host special Ashes editions of his 5 Live Sport Cricket Show throughout the series.

Following the Ashes, Test Match Special will also have ball-by-ball commentary of England's one day series with the commentary team including Simon Mann, Jim Maxwell and Michael Vaughan with updates on Radio 5 Live with Alison Mitchell.

You can get in touch with the programme by e-mailing tms@bbc.co.uk or texting 84040.

You can also access the for some famous historical moments from the past, as described by TMS.
