John Barrowman and cast of We Will Rock You join Pudsey for Children in Need Rocks Scotland

John Barrowman and the cast of hit musical We Will Rock You are just some of the acts joining Pudsey at the SECC as Children in Need Rocks Scotland on Friday 19 November.

John Barrowman and Jackie Bird are presenting this year's extravaganza from Glasgow, which will be part of the national Children in Need appeal show.

Anyone who would like to be in the audience can register now for free tickets at bbc.co.uk/tickets.

Other acts confirmed for the evening are dance acts Punjabi No 1 and The Box, music acts Pearl and the Puppets, Clanadonia and The Gospel Truth Choir plus comedians Fred MacAulay, Daniel Sloss, Mark Nelson, Craig Hill, Des Clarke, Janey Godley and Nina Conti. Other acts are due to be announced in the coming weeks.

Northern Ireland and Wales are also staging their own concerts, with highlights of all regions shown to the whole of the UK during the national TV appeal.

John Barrowman will be hosting the event and presenting live links to the rest of the UK – along with performing on the evening.

John says: "Working on Children in Need is always a highlight of my year. The cause is such a worthy one, and unfortunately right now the number of children in need in the UK is growing. I'm really looking forward to doing what I can to raise spirits and lots of cash."

Presenter Jackie Bird will be presenting regional output for the live event and will also be fronting a highlights show for ±«Óãtv One Scotland.

Jackie says: "Children in Need does such good work for young people the length and breadth of Scotland that it is vital we raise as much money as we can. The show is always exciting, but this year we're really pushing the boat out for our fundraisers and viewers. I hope that in return people will give what they can. It's all hugely appreciated."

Along with the exciting TV output, ±«Óãtv Radio Scotland will have full coverage of Children in Need, culminating in a special programme hosted by Bryan Burnett and Radio 1's Edith Bowman on Friday 19 November at 6.10pm. Edith will be stationed live at the SECC getting all the backstage gossip and interviews with the stars, with Bryan coming live from Pacific Quay.

Edith Bowman says: "I'm really excited to be up in Scotland and part of the team for this year's Children in Need. It will be a wonderful night and will hopefully raise a huge amount of money."

Bryan Burnett adds: "This time around we are putting music at the very heart of what we will be doing on the night. With a great line up of big names, and Radio Scotland's exclusive access to the entire show, it promises to be a memorable night. I'm excited to be teaming up with Edith Bowman so we can bring you all of the excitement of this great night of entertainment."

The rest of the day's schedule includes: Kaye Adams kicking off ±«Óãtv Radio Scotland's Children in Need proceedings at 10am on Call Kaye. She will then hand over to a Children in Need special on MacAulay And Co from 10.30am, which will include fundraisers and celebrity guests. Brian Taylor's Big Debate then takes over the helm with a special programme live from Pacific Quay at 12.15pm – where an audience of kids will discuss issues alongside panellists Chick Young and comedian Susan Calman. The Comedy Cafe will follow at 1.15pm and will be tapping into some of the talent on hand for Children in Need Rocks Scotland. Tom Morton will be starting at 2.05pm with his show including special guests and live music from Cherry Band. Finally, from 6.10pm Bryan Burnett and Edith Bowman will take over the airwaves for a special four-hour Children in Need programme.

Executive producer Eileen Herlihy says: "This year's Children in Need will be a glittering spectacle of music, dance and laughter across Scotland and the rest of the UK. Children in Need Rocks Scotland will be a fantastic night, raising money for the many children that need our support, celebrating and thanking the fundraisers who do so much, and it will also be a night of great entertainment which people can watch on TV or listen to throughout the day on ±«Óãtv Radio Scotland."

Head of Children in Need in Scotland, Fraser Falconer, adds: "It's the ±«Óãtv's wonderful viewers and listeners that make Children in Need the annual event that many look forward to being a part of. In turn, the money raised then helps children in need across all of Scotland."

You can watch Children in Need on ±«Óãtv One Scotland on Friday 19 November where you will see highlights of Children in Need Rocks Scotland throughout the evening.

It can also be viewed on Sky channel 971 and is available on ±«Óãtv iPlayer and on the ±«Óãtv HD Channel.
