Vassily Sinaisky and Douglas Boyd will now conduct the ±«Óãtv Proms concerts which were due to be given by the late Sir Charles Mackerras on 25 and 29 July.

Vassily Sinaisky will conduct the Prom on 25 July, a concert which will be to be dedicated to the memory of Sir Charles, who conducted 52 Proms concerts between 1961 and 2009.

Dvorák's touching Slavonic Dance in E minor, Op. 72 No. 2 – a favourite of the late maestro's – will be added to the programme and replace the Strauss waltz, Where The Lemon Tress Blossom, in honour of Sir Charles' championing of Czech music. Otherwise the programme of Viennese dance classics and Schumann's ever-popular Piano Concerto in A minor remains unchanged.

Sinaisky, a popular and regular visitor to the Proms, is the ±«Óãtv Philharmonic's Chief Guest Conductor and also conducts a Prom with them of music by Parry, Scriabin and Tchaikovsky on 23 July.

Douglas Boyd will replace the late Sir Charles Mackerras in the Scottish Chamber Orchestra's (SCO) Late Night Prom of Mozart and Dvorák Wind Serenades on 29 July.

The Scottish born Boyd has worked with the SCO before and has previously conducted twice at the Proms. He is currently Music Director of Manchester Camerata, Chief Conductor of the Musikkollegium Winterthur, Principal Guest Conductor of the Colorado Symphony Orchestra and Principal Guest Conductor of City of London Sinfonia.
