Colin Paterson to join Radio Wales

Red Dragon FM programme director Colin Paterson is to move to ±«Óãtv Radio Wales, the broadcaster announced today.

The 31-year-old, who is originally from Glasgow, will join Radio Wales as executive producer working closely with editor Steve Austins.

As well as helping run the day to day operations of Wales' only national English language station, Colin will manage a number of aspects of station activity from scheduling to music policy.

Colin launched the UK's first speech radio station outside London, Talk 107 in Edinburgh, before becoming programme controller at Red Dragon in 2008. Previously, he was programme director for Magic 1170 and also for TFM when it was named Commercial Radio Station of the Year.

Editor Steve Austins says: "Colin is widely regarded as one of commercial radio's brightest stars and brings with him a thorough understanding of audiences in a complex market place. We are very happy to have him join the Radio Wales team."

Colin takes up the new role at a strategically significant time for the station, with a brief to build on current success and target new listeners.

Colin says: "This is an exciting and challenging period for ±«Óãtv Radio Wales. I look forward to working with the hugely talented team as well as engaging with listeners to ensure audience growth for years to come."
