The journalist and distinguished legal commentator Joshua Rozenberg is returning as presenter of ±«Óãtv Radio 4's Law in Action.

Joshua presented broadcasting's longest-running legal series from its first edition in 1984 until 1987. He was the ±«Óãtv's Legal Correspondent for 15 years before moving in 2000 to The Daily Telegraph, where he edited the paper's legal coverage until the end of 2008.

Joshua, who qualified as a solicitor before becoming a journalist, has won the Bar Council's Legal Reporting Award four times – most recently last year, for Top Dogs, his Radio 4 documentary about the launch of the UK Supreme Court.

He will present the first Law In Action programme of his return on Tuesday 8 June.

Joshua said: "It is a privilege to be returning to Law in Action, a programme I launched more than a quarter of a century ago. Much has changed in the law since then – including the growth of judicial review, new sentencing powers, devolution to Scotland and Wales, a developing law of privacy, the Human Rights Act and the creation of a Supreme Court.

"As the law becomes ever more complex and contentious, what does not change is the need for analysis that is sharp, not shrill, and balanced without being boring. The early years of a new parliament are always a particularly exciting time in the law. I can't wait to be back."
