Radio Scotland hits gold and gains 90,000 more listeners

Latest RAJAR figures out today have confirmed that ±«Óãtv Radio Scotland has gained more than 90,000 listeners over the past quarter with a weekly reach of 955,000 (22%), a share of 8.1% and an average of 6.82 hours per listener per week with the yearly figures also on the rise.

Jeff Zycinski, Head of ±«Óãtv Radio Scotland, said today: "It's been a good news week for us at Radio Scotland winning a Gold award at this week's Sonys for our popular Sportsound programme plus a Bronze for our Jazz Line Up team and now a very encouraging set of listening figures. We've gained more than 90,000 listeners in the past quarter and once again we're in sight of having a million listeners a week.

"As usual our news and sports programmes – Good Morning Scotland and Sportsound – are bringing in the big numbers – and I have little doubt that more people were tuning in during January and February when the weather played havoc with travel plans.

"Our programme makers are also glad to be part of the overall success story for the ±«Óãtv Radio networks and it's worth remembering that ±«Óãtv Radio Scotland also provide a wide range of output for national networks like Radio 1, Radio 4 and Radio 3."

Radio Scotland had four Sony nominations for the station in all across drama, news, music and sport, endorsing the range of productions made for audiences both in Scotland and across the UK.

The two other Sony nominations were for the Best Drama category with the compelling story by Oliver Emanuel of Daniel And Mary and for the Best Breaking News Coverage for their flagship news programme Good Morning Scotland – Release Of Lockerbie Bomber.
