On Monday 3 May 2010, ±«Óãtv Radio 1 and ±«Óãtv Radio 1Xtra will be joining together to pay homage to drum and bass (D&B), by broadcasting a special 10-hour simulcast marathon from 7pm-5am.

During The Drum & Bass Takeover, Radio 1 and 1Xtra DJs will be showcasing the genre by playing a selection of old school and new tracks, including exclusive first plays, interviewing D&B artists and broadcasting a documentary which will explore how D&B has evolved from the very earliest jungle breaks right through to modern Dubstep fusions.

Radio 1's Zane Lowe and Radio 1 and 1Xtra's MistaJam will kick off the evening with The Drum & Bass Takeover Show at 7pm. This show includes interviews and exclusive tracks from current, critically acclaimed D&B acts Pendulum, Chase N Status and Sub Focus.

On a special Drum & Bass Review Show at 9pm, 1Xtra D&B DJ Bailey is joined by panellists DJ Storm, Shy FX, MC Tali and Adam F, while the notorious British DJ Jaguar Skills presents a special Radio 1's Stories – The Story Of Drum & Bass from 10pm, voiced by MC Skibadee and consisting of Jag mixing tracks from the last two decades.

Following that, Radio 1 DJs Fabio and Grooverider and 1Xtra's Bailey and Crissy Criss are in Drum & Bass Masters, from 11pm.

Other programming later in the evening, includes The Best Of Drum And Bass on Radio 1 and 1Xtra, voiced by Annie Mac, at 1am; Drum And Bass – The Club Mixes, featuring sets from Sub Focus, Alix Perez, Doc Scott, Ed Rush and Optical from 2am and The Drum & Bass Takeover – The Story Of Pendulum from 4am.

The Drum And Bass Takeover was announced during Zane's Radio 1 and MistaJam's 1Xtra shows on Monday 19 April 2010.

MistaJam says: "From Hardcore to Rave to Jungle to eventually Drum & Bass, D&B as an art form has continued to evolve over the last 20 years and has found its biggest commercial audience in recent times thanks to acts like Pendulum, Sub Focus, Chase and Status and Blame, who haven't had to change their sound in order to cross over.

"The scene is vibrant at the moment, the quality of music is really strong and it's the perfect time for Radio 1 and 1Xtra to combine and celebrate it for an entire evening. It's an honour to kick off proceedings alongside fellow D&B fan Zane!"
