Radio 1 and 1Xtra off to Newcastle for In New Music We Trust Live

±«Óãtv Radio 1 and ±«Óãtv 1Xtra announce today they will be broadcasting live from Newcastle upon Tyne from Thursday 4 to Saturday 6 March with a series of shows under the banner In New Music We Trust Live.

Presenters include Zane Lowe, Annie Mac and Trevor Nelson.

These programmes highlight the station's commitment to new and live music with an eclectic line-up of artists performing at several venues across the city.

On Thursday 4 March, In New Music We Trust Live will be dedicated to rock/indie, with Radio 1's Zane Lowe and Nick Grimshaw presenting their shows in front of a live audience at the O2 Academy Newcastle [1].

Zane will broadcast an extended version of his nightly show (7.00-10.00pm) with performances to include Sunderland post-punkers Futureheads and indie band The Courteeners.

From 10.00pm, Nick Grimshaw takes over for a two-hour show from the O2 Academy 2 [1] with hotly-tipped bands Chapel Club and Frankie And The Heartstrings.

From 7.00pm on Friday 5 March, Annie Mac opens the second night of INMWT Live, dedicated to the best new dance music.

Annie will host her weekly show in front of an invited audience at a secret location.

At 9.00pm, Pete Tong, Judge Jules and Kutski kick off for a marathon six-hour broadcast from Digital Newcastle [1] including live performances from Delphic, Crookers and Japanese Popstars.

The second room will play host to Radio 1's In New Music We Trust DJs (Toddla T, Alex Metric and Kissy Sellout).

On Saturday evening Radio 1 teams up with 1Xtra for the final part of INMWT Live in a simulcast celebrating the very best in new black music.

Starting at 7.00pm, Trevor Nelson will present his weekly show in front of an invited audience at a secret location – with a very special acoustic performance.

The simulcast then continues from 9.00pm to 1.00am with Tim Westwood and Mistajam hosting a free party [2] from Newcastle University Student Union featuring Donaeo and his band Dynamix, Skepta, Giggs and many more.

"This event really underlines Radio 1 and 1Xtra's commitment to continually support new and live music throughout the year."
