±«Óãtv Switch Live 2009 winners announced

Fearne Cotton

JLS, Tinchy Stryder, N-Dubz, Fearne Cotton and the latest Harry Potter movie all picked up prizes at the first ±«Óãtv Switch Live Awards at London's Hammersmith Apollo today.

Cheryl Cole, Robert Pattinson, Tom Daley and TV series Skins were also winners at the star-studded bash, which celebrated the best in British talent from the past year as voted for by ±«Óãtv Switch's teen audience.

Forming part of this year's ±«Óãtv Switch Live event, the awards ceremony also featured incredible performances from a dazzling line-up of some of the biggest musical stars in the teen world, including the Black Eyed Peas, The Saturdays, Pixie Lott and Alexandra Burke.

Switch Live award-winners JLS and N-Dubz performed in front of 4,000 excited 14-17 year olds at the event, which was co-hosted by Kimberley Walsh and ±«Óãtv Radio 1's Nick Grimshaw.

Kimberley's Girls Aloud band-mate Cheryl Cole was named Switch's Prom Queen while Twilight actor Robert Pattinson was awarded Switch's Prom King.

Radio 1 DJ Fearne Cotton picked up the award for Switch's Stylish Human at the event.

Switch's Hottest Hit was awarded to Tinchy Stryder and N-Dubz for their chart-topping single Number 1 while heart-throbs JLS picked up Switch's Outstanding Artist.

Teen drama Skins was voted Switch's Telly Turn On and Switch's Fave Flick went to Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince. Tom Felton, who plays Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter films, was at the event to pick up the award.

Switch's Sporting Hero was awarded to 15-year-old world champion diver Tom Daley.

The ninth gong was the Teen Hero Award, which was created to celebrate inspirational teenagers in the UK. Nominees were suggested by The Surgery on Radio 1 listeners and ±«Óãtv Slink readers.

The winner of the award was 16-year-old Hannah Jones from Chester who, despite being diagnosed with a brain tumour and undergoing extensive treatment, has raised almost £50,000 for charity.

The Surgery on Radio 1 presenter Aled Haydn-Jones said: "We received nominations for so many inspirational and brave teenagers but Hannah really stuck out as someone who, despite facing a lot of challenges in her life, was not only able to overcome them but found a way of helping other people as well."

±«Óãtv Switch Live broadcasts on ±«Óãtv One and on the ±«Óãtv HD channel on Sunday 15 November at 3.00pm.

You can also listen back to the special five-hour Radio 1 Switch Live extravaganza, presented by Nick Grimshaw and Annie Mac, at bbc.co.uk/switch.
