The full line-up of performers and ticket details will be revealed in the autumn.

All profits from the tickets and sales of recordings will go to ±«Óãtv Children In Need.

"It's fantastic to be able to kick off ±«Óãtv Children in Need 2009 in such a special way," said Gary Barlow.

"I've always wanted to do something like this and I can promise a night to remember, a night that will, I hope, play a small part in changing the lives of disadvantaged children across the UK."

Jay Hunt said: "This year the very best of British musicians, led by Gary Barlow, will stage a spectacular night at the Albert Hall in aid of ±«Óãtv Children in Need.

"We're thrilled to be working with Gary Barlow on this brand new addition to the Children in Need programming for ±«Óãtv One."

Children in Need CEO, David Ramsden, said: "We are so excited. It's going to be a brilliant night and will help us make a difference to lots of young lives."

In 2008, the ±«Óãtv Children in Need Appeal raised more than £36million thanks to the generosity of the public and the enthusiasm of fundraisers, schools and businesses across the UK.

For every penny ±«Óãtv Children in Need receives from the public, a penny will go to a project helping to change the lives of disadvantaged children and young people in the UK.
