Big rise in audience figures as Radio Scotland remains the most listened-to station in Scotland

±«Óãtv Radio Scotland continues to deliver growing audience figures.

RAJAR results for Quarter 2, 2005 (April - June) reveal:

Ìý

Reach, at 23.5 per cent or 982,000 listeners is up by 35,000 quarter on quarter and by 134,000 year on year;

Ìý

Both share, at 10.3 per cent; and

Ìý

Hours of listening, at 8.4 hours, are the highest they've been since the new RAJAR methodology began in 1999.

Ìý

Radio Scotland has also stayed ahead of ±«Óãtv Radio 2 as the most listened-to station in Scotland.

Ìý

Jeff Zycinski, who took over as ±«Óãtv Scotland's Head of Radio earlier this year, said: "It's heartening to see that the hard work of our programme teams is appreciated by listeners across Scotland.

Ìý

"This was a very busy period for us at Radio Scotland: we began to make changes to our daytime schedule and announced the launch of 40 new programmes for the summer.

Ìý

"But it was also the period in which we covered the General Election, the death and funeral of the Pope, the climax of the football season and coverage of the South by South West music festival in Texas.

Ìý

"No other station in Scotland can match us for the sheer variety of programming."
