Cameron baby gifts revealed in official lists

Prime Minister David Cameron was sent baby gifts by shops and the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi the month his daughter Florence was born.

in August and September also show he was sent ties, champagne and theatre tickets from actress Whoopi Goldberg.

Some were retained by the department - Mr Cameron bought some of the baby gifts to keep himself.

The lists show all gifts worth more than ÂŁ140 sent to ministers.

Deputy PM Nick Clegg was sent just one gift over ÂŁ140 - a briefcase from South Africa's deputy president Kgalema Motlanthe.

Mr Cameron's wife, Samantha, gave birth to their second daughter on 24 August.

That month Marks & Spencer, Huggababy and the Crown Prince sent baby gifts, Italy's Silvio Berlusconi sent a silver and glass ornament, Viscount Rothermere sent champagne and tie retailer Zilli sent some of their products.

Most were retained by the government under ministerial rules - including the briefcase for Mr Clegg - although Mr Cameron paid to keep some of the baby gifts sent by the Crown Prince, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed.

The PM also accepted free tickets from the London Palladium and Whoopi Goldberg, star of its Sister Act production.

The champagne from Associated Newspapers' chairman Viscount Rothermere was used "for official entertainment", the prime minister's office said.
