Buyer's guide

UK supermarkets sell very few varieties of English muffin and they are sometimes hard to find, but in the US they have become a national favourite and are widely available from bakeries and supermarkets.

Storage

Muffins freeze very well, are usually split in half horizontally first, and are often served toasted.

Preparation

Muffins can be made easily at home with pieces of yeast-risen bread dough, so long as they are left on the frying pan long enough to cook halfway through without burning before being flipped.
