Swordfish DVD (2001)

John Travolta milks his suave and dangerous persona to dizzying new heights in the noisy action-fest that is "Swordfish". Released in a fetching neon-coloured DVD case, this is one disc that offers lots of bang for your hard-earned buck.

TECHNICAL FEATURES

Picture It's a 'Joel Silver Picture' so it's a slick movie that unsurprisingly looks sensational on disc.

Sound Explosions, helicopters, fast cars, and anything else that's capable of making a loud noise are thrown into a 5.1 mix that adds plenty of fun sensational audio nonsense to an already overblown movie.

SPECIAL FEATURES

Audio Commentaries Director Dominic Sena has clearly prepared for his audio commentary, and keeps the flow of information coming thick and fast. There's plenty of technical detail, and he is clear on explaining how he visualised and developed the movie. Interestingly he reveals that Travolta had turned down the script six times, but after Sena joined John for a midnight feast (no really!) he agreed to come on board after liking the director's take on the story.

Making of Featurette "The nudity thing just scared the hell out of me", reveals Halle Berry in this 15 minute 'making of', or rather 'Travolta appreciation society featurette'. "If he doesn't do this who the hell can we get", exclaims Sena as we learn that Travolta is the only actor capable of sporting a silly goatee and slick-back hair. Meanwhile there's a whole load of behind-the-scenes footage including Vinnie Jones exclaiming, "My button's fallen off" as indeed a button does rupture off his suit. Jones is also keen to point out that all his Hollywood movies have gone to no 1 at the box office. Hollywood must be so thankful.

The Effects in Focus This must be the first DVD featurette to concentrate solely on a flying bus, but there's plenty of behind-the-scenes footage of this amusingly silly stunt.

Alternate Endings There are two alternate endings with Sena offering commentary for both. We won't reveal what happens, but the general consensus is that neither was really high octane enough.
