Steamboat Bill Jr DVD (1928)

"Steamboat Bill Jr" is a Buster Keaton classic comedy that culminates in an extraordinary stunt-filled finale that's both thrilling and very amusing. Even modern action movie junkies will be impressed with the crashing cars, a pier getting ripped up, and the famous Keaton gag where a real house front falls down around him. It's an ideal movie to acquaint you with Buster Keaton, and a must-have on DVD for existing fans.

Picture quality is really very good. The print is obviously scratched, but the DVD transfer is excellent, and the black and white contrast is strong and detailed.

The sound is mono, and carries the music score without any distortion.

Aside from the lovely animated menus, there's also a Keaton short, "The Boat", which is an ideal warm up to watch before the main feature. It's an absolute scream as Buster wreaks havoc with his boat, the Damfino. The source print is very scratched, but you do get a lovely stereo music score with it.
