Charles Dutoit conducts the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and a trio of solo cellists in Penderecki鈥檚 Concerto grosso. Stravinsky provides the Fireworks, Debussy the sea (La mer) and Ravel a sensual sunrise (in music from the ballet Daphnis and Chloe).

Brilliance and brevity as Stravinsky鈥檚 Fireworks opens a concert in which Charles Dutoit and the RPO explore the sensuous orchestrations of Debussy鈥檚 La mer and the second suite from Ravel鈥檚 Daphnis and Chloe.

The Proms focus on Polish music continues as Leonard Elschenbroich, Daniel M眉ller-Schott and Arto Noras are the soloists in the Concerto grosso by Krzysztof Penderecki, 80 this year. Written in 2000 and championed by Dutoit in Tokyo, Philadelphia and Chicago, the concerto plays with Baroque forms, pitting the trio of cellists against choirs of woodwind.
