About This Event

The 鈥榳ild and colourful beauty鈥� of Utah and Arizona was the inspiration for one of the 20th century鈥檚 most singular and extraordinary works, a musical act of 鈥榩raise and contemplation鈥� painted in the brightest and most vivid of sounds.

Olivier Messiaen鈥檚 mighty Des canyons aux 茅toiles 鈥� (鈥楩rom the Canyons to the Stars 鈥︹��) is a sonic meditation in which birdsong mingles with desert winds, and the rustling of sand.

Sakari Oramo conducts the 鲍鱼tv SO, with pianist Nicolas Hodges and horn player Martin Owen taking the demanding solo parts.
