The ±«Óătv National Orchestra of Wales and Mark Wigglesworth perform the exuberantly rhythmic overture to Wagner’s early comedy Das Liebesverbot and Elgar’s richly orchestrated First Symphony – a work itself steeped in the Germanic tradition. Exciting young British violinist Matthew Trusler joins the orchestra as soloist for Mathias’s neglected Violin Concerto – a virtuosic celebration of song and dance.
