Complaint

A listener complained about an inaccurate reference to a “h´Ç³Ù±ð±ô†in a headline about an operation by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank.  The ECU considered the complaint in the light of the ±«Óãtv’s editorial standards of accuracy.

Outcome

The presenter told listeners “Israeli forces storm a hotel in the occupied West Bank disguised as medical staff and kill three suspected fightersâ€.  The ECU noted the ±«Óãtv Complaints team had conceded at the outset this had been a slip of the tongue and the presenter had meant to say “h´Ç²õ±è¾±³Ù²¹±ôâ€.  However, in the introduction to the item, the fact that the operation had occurred in a hospital was clearly stated and reiterated.  In view of this and the reference to Israeli forces being disguised as medical staff, The ECU considered it unlikely that listeners would have been misled by the presenter’s slip of the tongue.
