Complaint

A listener complained an item in this bulletin on data published by the High Pay Centre was inaccurate and misleading because it overstated the disparity between the earnings of the average full-time worker and the average Chief Executive of a Top 100 company.  The ECU considered the complaint in the light of the ±«Óãtv’s editorial standards of accuracy.

Outcome

The item accurately reflected the High Pay Centre’s findings, which were based on official data.  This was sufficient to meet the ±«Óãtv’s standards of due accuracy, irrespective of the complainant’s reservations about the High Pay Centre’s methodology and analysis.
