Thank you to Radio 4 listeners who have generously donated to support Zambia Orphans Aid UK’s work giving children and youths the opportunity to access and enjoy education”.
— Garnet Mulomo – Chairperson, Zambia Orphans Aid UK

We’re immensely grateful for the overwhelming support from Radio 4 Appeal listeners who raised £11,136 to enable vulnerable young people in Kenya, to gain our Seed of Hope training and support to enter employment or to set up and run their own small businesses. Your generosity goes a long way in helping us to make a positive impact in the lives of young people who are struggling and experiencing poverty.

Through this appeal, we can provide a month's training and support to 450 young people in Kenya on 2-, 6-, and 12-month training courses. Every penny helps us bring long-term, sustainable change to the lives of young people and their communities in Kenya.

The appeal, presented by broadcaster, author, and youth advocate, Gemma Cairney, shared Linet’s moving story. Linet was a young mother living on the streets of Nairobi having been orphaned and abused. She was supported by Raising Futures Kenya to gain the skills, wellbeing and practical support she needed to become the empowered, successful small business owner, provider for her family, and student mentor that she is today.

Your donations support the delivery of our Seed of Hope programme as it grows to meet demand and reach higher numbers of young people, particularly young women and girls, like Linet. Because of you they'll gain vocational, business and computer skills and the wellbeing and practical support they need - counselling, free lunches, childcare vouchers and packs of period pads - so that nothing stands in the way of their learning. With these skills, hope, and resilience, they’re able to thrive, become self-reliant, and live above the poverty line.

"Gratitude is the memory of the heart. Thank you for giving us the platform to make a positive impact in the world and for partnering with us to create a brighter future for all." - Florence Olwenge, Raising Futures Kenya’s Seed of Hope Programme Manager

We’re honoured and grateful to you for helping us to uplift and empower young people to make this world a better place.
