Alzheimer's Society

Radio 4 Appeal 11 February 2018

My role as a Dementia Advisor is to help people living with dementia maintain their independence, improve their sense of well-being and help them take control of their own lives.

Radio 4 listeners’ generous response to Alzheimer’s Society’s appeal has raised £27,536 to help support people living with dementia and their families.

There are currently around 850,000 people in the UK living with dementia, and numbers are set to rise to 1 million by 2021.

Listeners’ donations have been put to immediate use by funding the provision of our Dementia Advisors. Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Advisors support thousands of people every year, helping them to make the right decisions and providing specialist dementia support.

When an individual receives a diagnosis of dementia, they often feel isolated and in many instances find it difficult to come to terms with this news. We hope that through the continuous work of our dedicated Dementia Advisors, and the kind generosity of ±«Óãtv listeners, we can continue to offer this essential service to people who need it most.
