How to make Air-Popped Microwave Popcorn

You will need

  • 1/3 cup of popcorn kernels
  • 1 tablespoon of coconut oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt

Step 1

Add one tablespoon of coconut oil and 1/4 teaspoon of salt into a large microwave-safe bowl and heat in the microwave for 30-45 seconds, just long enough for the coconut oil to melt and for the salt to dissolve into the oil.

Step 2

Add the popcorn kernels into the bowl and stir them so that the kernels get completely covered in the oil and salt mixture. Make sure to even them out in the bottom of the bowl so that the mixture coats each kernel.

Step 3

Place a vented lid over the top of the bowl to cover it microwave the kernels on high for 3-4 minutes or until you can count for 1-2 seconds between pops.

Step 4

Once your bowl is full with popped popcorn kernels it's time to take it out of the microwave. It will be very hot to touch so make sure to wear oven mits on your hands and get an adult to help you take the bowl out of the microwave.

Step 5

Dish out your popcorn into bowls. There should be enough popcorn for up to 8 cups worth of delicious popcorn!
