Is "jetlagged in Boston" a song title?

Fiona Crack | 11:20 UK time, Tuesday, 20 February 2007

I'm the advanced party for our two Boston programmes at the end of the week. My job is to see everything is set up and smooth the way for our 'seniors' arriving today, and Ros and Anna arriving Wenesday and to sniff around for local stories and burning issues with our audience.

In reality you spend most of the day on the phone to telecomms companies trying to get broadcast quality lines installed (these have been ordered previously, but its never simple) buying US/UK adapters and meeting our contacts who have helped us get this far.

I'd love to tell you my thoughts on Boston, but that will have to wait! It was a direct taxi (with 16 boxes of kit) to the hotel. A race round to see the headquarters of the conference, a peek at Salon F were our Thursday programme is broadcast from (currently set up for a wedding) and then several hours struggling to get on line with my ±«Óãtv computer.

I did however fufil my World Have Your Say on the road tradition of having the local speciality for dinner - New England clam chowder. And very nice it was too. Its something of a tradition for me to nearly fall asleep at the table (In New Orelans I was three inches from collision with my gumbo) and I didn't let the team down there either.

On my agenda today is getting over to Harvard to see the venue for our Friday programme, meeting some of our conference atendees, a meeting with our NPR/PRI friends and making sure Mark and David get here. Perhaps I'll manage to see a bit of Boston as well.
