Hello, Ruth blogging your thoughts, comments, emails and texts tonight. Get in touch by phone, email or SMS, details on the right =>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Do you think memorials serve a purpose? Do they help you think about the past or maybe they don't mean anything at all to you? We'd also like to hear your suggestions for memorials that haven't yet been built.

Spain is standardising all women's sizes and fattening up its mannequins. Do you think government legislation can change people's bodies?

Memorials

Jonathan Jones is our guest in the studio. He wrote an about memorials. he thinks although there will always be a place for memorials, there are too many. They may be contributing to today’s problems, not soothing them.

Julie P, Marietta, United States, we have the King Centre in Atlanta, not only is it a memorial to MLK it holds events for any number of reasons. Also, Without places like this I'd have no idea about these people's lives.

Simeon Chibiko, Nigeria.Memorials help us re define our humanity and disuade us from perpetrating crimes against the vulnerble,

Mr Head, Are there too many memorials? No. There are too many tragic events...

Slav, Latvia Memorials are definitely needed to show we remember the victims and to be sure further generations will remember them.

Hana Z., Prague, there are NOT memorials enough. One to commemorate the extradiction of Czech Germans after WW2 is one I miss.

BOL,Kenya hallo all,was the extensiv slavery &colonial destructn of African & other peoples heritage worth a shadows mention of the overused 9/11&the holocaust?

Mario, Czech Rep, we all remember the armenians who died at the hands of the turks, what about the millions of greeks and kurds who were massacred at the same time as the armenians by the turks

Emeka, Nigeria, memmorials ignites nothing but pain & anger. And has changed from an act of tribute to an act of worship(worship of the dead).

Mansour, Monrovia, memorial help us understand the past.

Jos, Nigeria, As d world watched 911,my town was experiencing d worst religious crises ever experienced in our peace lovin town, pity that we haven't had any memorial 2remember what happened.

Rik, Amsterdam, For me, memorials are always suspect; they are the number 1 way to write 'victor's history'. How many memorials are there for native americans compared to holocaust victims?

Andy, Portugal I think that a world wide memorial day. A day of rest and reflection may heip people to realise that life is precious and should not be wasted. The uniting of grief could help towards global peace.

Anon, what about a memorial to the millions of Indians who died in the Americas?

Cara, memorials help younger generations who didn't experience the event better understand its impact and how it shaped a country. its a visual representation of history.

Cris says, no, there are not too many monuments. What do monuments say to me? They are a reminder of what happens if we lower our guard. We must never forget the ultimate sacrifice made by the victims to whom those monuments are erected.

Kweku. Accra, for me whether memorials will cause pain or not depends on what led to de loss of lives.

Sam Kalimukwa, wht abt those japnse kld by amrcns and those irqs & afgns .

Sylvanus, Nigeria, memorials are like tombstones. people weep when they are erected, but they soon forget about or ignore them.

Gibrilla Kamara, Freetown, memorials can open up old wounds or heal wounds depending on d circumstances or perspective...d danger is they prone to be politicised.

Dr Ohaji, Nigeria, memorails are good but in this age of xtremism one wonders if it helps but stir up sentiments-

Layi, memorials r a product of solidarity. In nigeria people r tinking about how 2 hav a gud life so memorials r not seriously tot of in poverty ridden society.

Fola, memorials are supposed to have good intentions but most times they dont.each time people see those graves etc,its like reopening healing wounds.

Wolf, Australia, memorials were placed for the purpose of rememberance - i only wish people woule pause in front of them and remember.

Joshua Onwujuba, Nigeria, memorial helps to remember the past icons, heroes etc.i think memorial is much of a reflection than celebration.

Onu Competent, Nigeria, some memorial are bad & some are good it's all depend.

Shem Micah, Nigeria, memorials only brings pains and sorrow and it increases enemity.

Kitwe, Zambia, the past wont pay the future, but there is no future without the past memorials helps us learn from wat hapened.

Abdul-Kadir, Nigeria, the 9 11 atack deserved rememberance, we remember it with hapiness, cos america is doing terrably bad to the world.

Liz Mueni, Kenya, unfortunately in africa, the memorials are insignificant. Either they are colonial relics or objects created by egotistic dictators. I feel little connection to them and they are often costly and tacky.Intentions behind them matter. Its not just a matter of creating them.

Edward, Ghana, memorials like the WTC in the US is to me a symbol of power and affluence i think having a friendly foreign policy will be a right memorial.

Jim Marcovitch, UK, a country that isn't aware of its past mistakes will repeat them, the Arrogance&paranoia that led the us&the uk into iraq is runs deep in our national psyche.

Macias Nguema, Imo State, I would like a Memorial errected for the first President of Equatorial Guinea.

Body image

Melissa, Kenya Hi MY problem wit mannequins is that the fashion society not only assumes that all women are stick thin but also that they're blessed wit generally proportional bodies- so what about people like me??!! I am COMPLETELY flat-chested! It makes one feel very abnormal as a so-called 'woman'..

Lubna, Iraq.Hi Folks,im twenty years old and i think every female should accept and love herself as she is,if a female liked herself, everybody will like her.

Doreen, Antigua, why should they have anxiety all they need to do is buy clothes that make them look good just same as the skinny people.

Joy, Lagos, Yes I feel excited when I see the mannequins but more excited when I see them in the fashion magazines.

Bill, Every morning I like to feel a new big girl.
