Growers and foodies cook up a new group
New groups have been set up for , putting amateur and professional growers in touch with people with an appetite for fresh, local produce.
The schemes, believed to be the first, use social media website allowing growers and buyers to post messages about who has an abundance of fresh local produce and who is ready to buy it.
Jane Clough from , Loggerheads, near Mold, set up one group - "" - as a way to put people in touch as she is always on the look out for fresh local produce for her menu.
Meanwhile, another group, unites home and allotment veg growers from around Mold and elsewhere in north east Wales.
Jane said: "We actively seek local food producers with a glut of fruit and vegetables they have grown.
"Last week someone brought in four crates of freshly-picked mushrooms and almost everything on the menu the next day contained mushrooms!"
But, equally, anyone else could have bought some of the mushrooms had they got in there in time.
"Our watchwords are fresh, local, seasonal and homemade," says Jane. But we still struggle to source some of our key ingredients locally. 
"Especially difficult is fruit and vegetables and we are always looking for professional or amateur growers who may be able to supply us with any good quality fresh fruit and vegetables in any quantity.
"It is fantastic when someone arrives at our kitchen door or phones to say they have a surplus of something.
"Last autumn we had 37lbs of damsons delivered one day - it took us no time to turn it into wonderful jam to serve with our scones."
And that's where can help.
Nikki Giles from Llanferres, near Mold, who set up the group explains: "We have all types of members from woody old turnips that know their onions to green young beans that are learning to climb!"
They meet once a month to swap stories of successes and failures - and spare fruit and veg!
