Flintshire Council is giving free access to a huge family history website which allows you to search your family history back hundreds of years. The Ancestry database gives details of all the UK censi from 1841-1901 and also includes birth, marriage and death records from 1837 as well as parish records stretching back to the 1600s and even earlier.

This means you can search by name among millions of records. It's not unusual to be able to trace back several generations in just one sitting.

The Reference and Information Centre at Library Headquarters, Mold, together with Buckley and Holywell libraries now offer free access to the website, which is also available free at the Flintshire Record Office in Hawarden. Access to Ancestry has been funded by CyMAL, Museums, Archives and Libraries Wales until March 2007.
