Suspension of competitions

As most of you will not have failed to notice, the ±«Óãtv has itself been the subject of the news over the last 24 hours, .

As a result of this, the Director General has announced that all phone-related and interactive competitions across the ±«Óãtv will be suspended, until sufficient steps have been implemented to ensure they are run fairly and honestly.

This obviously means you will be seeing no competitions on ±«Óãtv Sport's various platforms and programming until further notice. We run some one-off competitions, which will now not happen, and also a few regular, rolling competitions, which will now be suspended indefinitely.

For users of the , this means the Caption Competition and our book review feature, where members of the audience win the chance to get a newly-released book and review it, will both stop.

I stress that for anyone who regularly enters the Caption Competition, this does not mean there is any evidence of wrongdoing within this specific feature, but that it's part of a wider review across the ±«Óãtv. We will continue to run book reviews, but for now these will be carried out by members of our editorial team, and not users of the site.

I must also stress that the other parts of our website where you the users get involved (ie, interaction with our coverage, quizzes, and tools like Player Rater and Squad Selector), are not affected, because they are not competitions; nobody is trying to win anything.

So for many of you, you'll not notice any difference, but for those who enjoy Caption Competition and book review, I apologise, and thought we should do you the courtesy of explaining the circumstances.

I'm obviously happy to chat further if anyone has any questions about the implications for Sport in all of this,

Regards to all,

Lewis.
