On the way in this morning

Eddie Mair | 10:19 UK time, Wednesday, 25 July 2007

I came across this scene at TV Centre. It appeared to be a re-enactment of that scene in the Austin Powers movie where they're all dancing to that groovy music, Austin is wearing purple and there are 1960s policemen. The music was blaring and they were clearly shooting it for TV. Newsnight, I imagine.

I reckon it's a rigged scene for the documentary they're making to celebrate 50 years of the Today programme.

The guy in purple was probably John Humphrys wearing a suit from his Swansea youth.

When PM hits the big five oh, you could ask froggers to come and do a crowd shoot wearing gear from their youth. I think I can still find a miniskirt somewhere ...

It makes me think of Fat Les. I don't know why, because I don't think I've actually seen the video -- perhaps a short clip.
