I was trying to make it simple for my mother, not far more complex, in have to find the returning officer, arrange for a duplicate vote.... it would have been easier to contact one of the candidates and get them to ferry her to the polling station!

    Lurker - I'm sorry about your mother's experience of the postal voting system. In my own experience, I can't complain at all. Here in South Wales both SO and I have received all four (yes, four) voting forms etc., in time, this time and last time.

    I realise that I might be in a minority, but it has helped me vote, as previously we have found it very difficult to get to the polling station for various reasons.

    I feel strongly that the vote should be used, however agree with Belinda that there should be a "none of the above" options which sends a message in itself.
