Just like to report that the sun is shining very brightly in Northern Ireland - as it did yesterday! Oh dear it's a Bank Holiday, is it? Does that mean I can't go to work? Shame.
Morning, Espresso/cappucino machine up to temperature. Croissants in oven. We are probably retailing today. I know its unfair on those that have to work bank holidays but SO needs new clothes for hols and this is our last chance. Two kids to placate makes shopping hard work. This gets me thinking. Talk last week about an extra bank holiday. How about a split holiday, two days and half of us work one. That way we all get a holiday and as only half of us are off shops are al open! Lets call it a Chritsmas Shopping day and have them, in Oct/Nov.

I listen to PM every evening on my drive home from work and love it for the way you mix serious news, incisive questioning with a dash of humour and self-deprecation. I'm getting to the point now where I just have to listen to it - worrying! Enjoyed the Mitchell & Webb reference.Perhaps you could adopt their "and if you haven't been affected by these issues perhaps you can imagine what it would be like if you have" line! Lovely!
Although you mention it all the time can you believe I kept forgetting to check your blog out for ages until finally the curiosity got the better of me and I can see it can be addictive! Amazed you read it all - do you? Must take ages but you clearly have a cult following. It's more much personable than the Radio 4 version. Did Today beat you in the blogging race stakes initially I wonder? I notice your blog dates back to 17 .8.06. I ask because being very untechnical this new world of blogs and podcasts is new to me but imagine my surprise to find that working with teenagers( who are so adept with new forms of communication it's scary) as part of a project for the local museum (usually all about the past not cutting new futuristic ground)we created blogs and podcasts for a website "Moving Minds" for their peers before Radio 4 Today's programme started their blogs! I know this because we launched the website before I heard Today announce their blog on the radio, much to my utter amazement. I notice that in the Manchester Festival there is a debate on the future of communciations scheduled which may include a question about blogs I think. Will you be taking notes, Eddie?
Once I checked out your blog I learned a few other things namely: what you looked like which was different from the image I'd conjured up for you; could place your accent which had intrigued me for ages, but unlike one of your early bloggers who was not so pleasant about Scottish broadcasters, as a fellow celt I love it. The other thing I learned was that you were not Meyer but Mair. Did you know Mair is also a Welsh form of Mary? One of my best friends from primary school is called Mair but it's pronounced differently from yours you'll be pleased to know! Don't know if you really wanted to all all that - probably not and I've probably got the wrong end of the stick over the use of blogs but hey, it's feedback I suppose.
