I've always wondered what an is like at an Olympic Games.

In my imagination it is like a city where only supreme beings are allowed to exist and intimidatingly powerful people sit around flexing their biceps and discussing everything from personal bests to hitting their peak at the optimum moment.

Well yesterday afternoon I finally got the chance to find out about this most sacred of living quarters as I was given an escorted tour around the village here at the Games.

The stats alone are mind-blowing - 128 tower blocks to house athletes and team members, over 4,000 staff on hand to keep the place looking trim, and 33,000 meals a day being served by the 2,400 kitchen staff...apparently is a menu favourite.

Hi, I'm out here in Beijing as part of the ±«Óãtv TV presenting team.

It's my first Olympic experience and at the time of writing i'm pretty overwhelmed!

Having grown up watching the likes of Sharon Davies, Matt Pinsent, Colin Jackson and of course Sue Barker, it feels quite surreal to be part of their broadcast team.

My shift here in China involves a late alarm call and an even later crawl back to bed.

I'm on air every afternoon until 6pm UK time, which is 1am here in Beijing so I'm hoping Dorota the make-up artist is a whizz with the concealer...those bags will never even show!

Hope you enjoy our coverage whether it is on TV and via your red button, online or on radio...it's set to be some fortnight!
