Conference slogan = theme of closing speech.

Nowhere else do you get this level of analysis.

Will we ever find the courage to abandon cynicism in our dealings with our chosen leaders? This fine, intelligent,utterly human young man is doing his absolute best to light the fires of inspiration in our bellies again and free us from the shackles of 'political correctness'.But we remain,as a people,locked into the past, unable to see hope as anything but a lie and a deception. So sad.

Cameron is really doing the only thing he can do, given the appalling financial debit. The difficulty is that the previous government encouraged an outlook on life which sees the government as handing out security and jobs - the ' good people's firm' versus the 'bad rich boys firm.'
If one is an employee rather than an employer or self-employed it sounds like a very good idea, so Labour's backing tends to be from employees and unemployed, who expect the firm to foot he bill and have not had to worry about how the money gets there.
The built in dilemma is that central government is financially dependent on wealth generated by entrepeneurs who build businesses and employ people or on borrowing. Labour, like socialist states before them, did both.
In the Soviet Union, we saw what the outcome of this approach was - corruption at the top by a rich few of millionaire status, and an increasingly poor man on the street, employed by the government.
