Carol Rubra is tonight's programme producer. Here's her early email to the team.

Good morning,

Tonight we have the first of Paul Mason's films from his recent trip to China and apart from that the programme is wide open so let's discuss what else we should put in it and how we should do the stories.

in the last few months i have noticed the appearance of shrill and strident pro china posters on various news messageboards who delight in an orgy of anti capitalist anti [western!]imperiaist and tibetan = terrorism slogans.

i see they haven't found Newsnight yet.

Brown announced today that he will be talking about energy with Sarko.

Is Brown's brother still the PR man
for EDF - the French energy company?

And do we really want nuclear power?
Freudian slip too at PMQ about Tibet:
"We urge constraint" (sic!) was what Brown actually said not "restraint"!

Hallo,
Please give Nicolas Sarkozy a good grilling ce soir.
French "journalists" are so deferential it is sickening. Plus of course Sarko has many friends in the media…
Best regards,

A country's developing just like growth of a child, it needs time and mistakes to learn lessons. Why westerns cannot accept and let China to develope in her way? It might be not perfect, but it suits China as 100 years ago the way western had which suited western. Besides, no one is perfect.
Love each other and let God be the judge.
