The author Lewis Carroll was born in 1832.

Charles Dodgson, otherwise known as the author Lewis Carroll, was renowned for creating fantasy worlds occupied by absurd characters.

His most famous works include The Hunting of the Snark, the poem Jabberwocky and perhaps his most enduring of all, the two 'Alice' novels; Alice in Wonderland, published in 1865 and 1871's Alice Through the Looking Glass.

Characters including such the Cheshire Cat, Mad Hatter and Tweedledum and Tweedledee have become part of our culture. His nonsense words, including chortle, frabjous and gallumph have found life beyond his works.

But do you know which characters and plot points appear in which of the Alice books? Take our quiz and find out how much of an Alice expert you really are.
