Let’s count them shall we.
1… 2… 3… 4… 5… 6… 7… 8… 9.
So, if there’s 9 moon maggots and 3 of you, to share them out you need to divide 9 by 3, which equals… 3.
FIN: (ALIEN LANGUAGE)
NARRATOR: Well if you’ve got a better way of doing it Fin, go for it.
I see, you’re going to count them out equally and make 3 rows of maggots, one row for each of you.
With all the maggots counted out, there’s 3 rows of 3 maggots each.
That’s a great way of dividing 9 by 3.
Just arrange 9 into 3 rows of 3.
BOTH: Aha!
NARRATOR: So, time to get these wrigglers onto the end of your fishing lines.
Oh no…

What is an array?
As array is a group of things arranged into rows and columns.
You can use arrays to help you divide one number by another.
Arrange the number of things you want to divide into the number of rows you want to divide by.
Count the number of things in each row to find the answer.
Example
10 Ă· 5 = ?
Make a group of 10 objects
Arrange them into 5 rows
How many are in each row? Did you get 2?
So 10 Ă· 5 = 2
Fin, Snoot and Plimble try different ways to divide up their destructor bots.
Fin and Snoot count meebs by putting them into equal rows and using multiplication.
