Millions of news stories are seen and shared each day and most of them will be filled with facts or opinions. But the way stories are told and the language used can make it difficult to tell the difference between what is fact and what is opinion.

According to a ±«Óătv Bitesize survey for Other Side of the Story, one in five think that opinions are more important than facts. People may disguise opinions as facts online leaving it to be difficult to spot one from the other.

What's the difference?

FactA fact is a statement that can be proven to be true.

OpinionAn opinion is someone's judgement or belief on something.
