The classification of plants is truly complicated, and botany sees them differently to cooking. In general, it’s widely accepted that vegetables are the different edible parts of plants, whereas fruits develop from the flowers of plants. Sounds easy? Test yourself with this tricky quiz.
Before you start, bear in mind we've used botanical groupings, so 'fruit' and 'veg' are broad terms. Not all is as it seems - for example, we're counting berries as 'something else', but what you know as a culinary berry might not be classed as a botanical berry.
