From ‘birds aren’t real’ to anti-vaxing, a lot of fake news online that they talk about in this film comes from untrustworthy sources. It’s really important that you consume your news on social media from reputable places. The ±«Óătv, ITV, Channel 4 and some newspapers have really strict rules and processes for making sure information is correct. Their social media channels will all be verified, usually with a blue tick so you know your news will be well researched and accurate. These rules are NOT used by lots of people who share news on social media.

If you’re sharing news that you’ve read on the socials, take a bit of time to check the source. If it looks legitimate and is written by a trusted and verified source, then it should be fine to share. If it isn’t, do your research before you share it. There is a sea of unchecked, misleading, untrue news out there which often has its own agenda, so look for it from places that have high standards, like the ±«Óătv.
