A French former Nazi collaborator (Michael Caine), who has escaped justice for 40 years, is pursued through France by rival groups. While a vigilante organisation want to see him dead by any means, Paris magistrate (Tilda Swinton) and a Gendarmerie colonel (Jeremy Northam) want justice done through the courts.
