Plans for a new cycle track at a youth centre in Bradford have been approved by planners.

The curved track will help “raise aspirations through sport” in the area, Bradford Council said.

It will be located on land behind the Springfield Community Centre on Idlethorpe Way.

Bradford Council said it wants to promote “healthy lifestyles through opportunities for exercise”.

One resident had objected to the project, saying the new sports facility might cause anti-social behaviour, according to the.

However, planners said: “There is no evidence to suggest that the cycle track would create more anti-social behaviour."

They added: “The proposal will secure a sport related scheme which will support the Youth Centre and the wider community.

“The Council recognises the importance of sport and recreation and the contribution these make to healthy lifestyles through opportunities for exercise.”
