Dress of the Year, The Fashion Museum

This Mary Quant dress of grey wool worn with cream chiffon blouse, is a significant piece in terms of fashion history. It was the first 'Dress of the Year' selection in 1963 - the year when the museum, then the Museum of Costume, was founded. Each year since then a fashion expert has selected a 'Dress of the Year' for the museum's collection to represent the most important new ideas in contemporary fashion.
