This Menagerie Traction Engine and it's travellinjg zoo was granted a Royal Charter and could be taken to any market town in Britain for two days a week. It was part of the travelling menagerie of animals which became famous throughout Britain. A pump was fitted on the side to pump water into a bath for hippopotamuses. There were also lions and tigers in this travelling zoo. It was owned by George Wombwess who was granted the charter by Prince Albert for his advice regarding his hunting dogs. It was manufactured by Chas Burrell. It was bought by Clive and Marian Gibbard from Bill Swndlehurst of Leek Staffs twenty five years ago.
