A bronze 1st century Roman coin in good condition, discovered 3 years ago in the Beer Quarry Caves explorations in Devon. It depicts the Emperor Caligula on the obverse side and a prancing horse on the reverse. It was minted in Spain and was probably brought to England by a member of one of the occupying Roman legions. It is one of only four such coins found in Britain and is owned by John Scott, curator of Beer Quarry Caves, the largest underground workings in the south of England which provided Beer stone for 24 English cathedrals plus other historic buildings.
