Roles and responsibilities

Sam Taylor was appointed as Chief Operating Officer for ±«Óãtv News & Current Affairs in 2023.

Sam leads on transformation, projects and governance for News, as well as managing business, operations and support teams in the division, both across the UK and around the globe.

He is based in Salford and sits on both the News divisional board and the ±«Óãtv’s Operations Committee.

Biography

Sam is an operations, journalism and change leader who’s worked in a number of senior roles across ±«Óãtv News, prior to his appointment as Chief Operating Officer. A member of the ±«Óãtv News board since 2021, Sam was previously Divisional Managing Editor, leading work on modernisation, standards, editorial and business support. He’s also worked as Head of Live & Breaking news, Controller of the ±«Óãtv News Channel and led a number of operational teams. Sam led the design of the ±«Óãtv’s multimedia newsroom at New Broadcasting House in 2012/13, and has worked on a range of digital and broadcast change projects. He’s based in the North West of England, working from the ±«Óãtv’s broadcast centre in Salford.

Expenses are costs incurred by ±«Óãtv staff on behalf of the ±«Óãtv and claimed through the ±«Óãtv's expenses system.

Central bookings are costs incurred on behalf of the ±«Óãtv and booked through the ±«Óãtv's central bookings system. Both expenses and central bookings are published every three months.
